Description
This course is primarily intended for environmental services healthcare workers.
Hospital acquired infections occur in hundreds of thousands of patients in American hospitals every year. Many of these infections are preventable. Environmental services worker can help prevent some of these infections.
The educational materials consist of a video describing the important points to remember when cleaning a hospital room. Watching the video will take approximately three minutes. You should complete your educational experience in one sitting.
The goal of this online course is to effectively remind environmental service workers of the key points in cleaning hospital rooms in order to decrease the risk of adverse patient events and to improve patient care.

Educational Objectives
At the completion of this online video presentation, the participate should be able to:

• Understand how patients can develop infections during their hospital stay from rooms not cleaned properly
• How to properly clean patient rooms
• Realize that gloves are to be removed after completing room cleaning and hands need to be cleaned immediately after removing gloves
• Pay attention to the information on the door signs of patients who are in isolation and follow all the required precautions such as use of gowns and gloves when performing room cleaning
